Free

In this series of open classes, Lacina Coulibaly will introduce the fundamental principles of West African dance, particularly focusing on the harmonious interconnection between dance and music.  Incorporating a live drummer, the classes will foreground the intricate rhythms that are central to West African dance, allowing students to learn how to listen and respond to the beat in real-time, and eventually design their own dancing moves.  Through the studio immersion, students will encounter the community values, philosophy, and transformative power of West African cultural heritage. All levels are welcome. Free and open to the Yale community.

All classes will be held at The Broadway Rehearsal Lofts at 294 Elm Street, 3rd Floor.
